Just came across this thread and hope it might help those of us who aren't happy with the maximum volume during a call.

Voice privacy? - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Basically there is a setting in the phone app called Voice Privacy which supposedly decreases the max volume during calls. Try turning this setting off from within the phone app and see if it helps.

Just switched it over an hour ago. Gonna do a power cycle and then try some calls with friends later. Will let you know.

I am pretty sure that voice privacy is not meant to decrease volume but it encrypts calls end to end so that they cannot be eavesdropped. That said, calls are already encrypted, so I doubt that it will cause much concern if it is turned off.

Sorry, I must have missed that Delrey! Thanks.

PS. How are you liking your Moto X?

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Where is audio effects in the sound settings? I must be blind.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Didn't seem to help. I had to experiment with the placement of the very top of the phone to be directly on top of my ear canal to really get loud enough sound. I'm on bluetooth enough though that hopefully it doesn't impact my needs.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Man! I do not have that option on my droid turbo. There is no sound effects choice.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

My choices under sound is:
volumes
phone ringtone
phone vibration pattern
vibrate when ringing
default notification sound
dial pad touch tones
etc

It's the second option, just below volume. It's called audio effects.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Shoot. I must have a different software version or something. There is no sound effects on this phone. Thanks for trying.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Audio effects is on my old razr maxx in the exact spot everyone is telling me. But not my droid turbo. I did do the update. Maybe that is why it is not there. Maybe there will be a fix.

I don't have the Turbo, but on my RMHD there is an alternative way to get into Audio Effects. Open up the Google Play Music app, open up the menu (top left corner). Go into Settings and select Equalizer. See if this works.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

I found today that since the ear piece is so high up, I have to hold the phone lower than I'm used to in order to have my ear canal in the direct path if the ear piece. Might be a stupid suggestion but it helped for me...

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Dont have the equalizer choice. Thanks for trying to help.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

Danny, I noticed just a while ago that by doing that it helped. It just felt a little awkward, but this may be the only option right now. Thanks buddy.

Re: Possible solution to low Volume during Calls

I tried that and turning off voice privacy made no difference in the call volume.
