Hello All,

I have the M8 with the well known camera lens surface issue. I cleaned off most of the coating but it is not perfect.

Has anyone replaced their phone with Verizon based on this problem? I will have this phone for another year and a half, and I am concerned that other lenses on the phone will have the same issue and/or it will happen internally.

I have the full "insurance" from Verizon.

How do they do it? I am a business person and can't be without a phone for a single day. Will they give me a new phone or fix this one? Can they secure a 2nd phone on my credit card and I just send in the bad one when I get the new one set up?

Thanks,
R

While technically this is a manufacturer defect, which would be covered under the warranty, I can pretty much guarantee you might have to fight them for a replacement. However, if they do agree to it, they should give you a refurbished m8 in store. If not, they would have to order one. It would come to your house, and you would activate it and then send the new one back, so you wouldn't be without a phone.

The insurance is for things that you do to your phone. If you drop it, water damage, etc. This is a manufacturer defect so they should replace it under the warranty.

If you get it replaced under warranty they will send you a replacement to your home. No cost. Next day if you get them before 5pm EASTERN TIME Mon-Thurs so you can make the cutoff for orders. Fri & Sat will arrive Monday.

Thanks guys... Has anyone actually done this for the notorious lens issue? Does Verizon immediately acknowledge this or am I in for an argument?

I can pretty much guarantee that it'll be a 50/50 as to whether who you talk to knows about it, and then even worse odds for getting them to replace it free of charge. Additionally it'll happen to the replacement. The best thing to do is just to invest more time in cleaning it instead of time in arguing with Verizon.

Hi Rhyalus,

If you would like to file an insurance claim, typically we will replace the phone with a like-for-like device. In the instance that your original device is unavailable, then you may be offered a comparable model. In addition, we do offer next day delivery! You can find more information regarding the process and the cost of the deductible on www.phoneclaim.com/verizon.
