Verizon S3: Simple Root Program. NO ODIN required

Re: Simple Root Program. NO ODIN required

I think the terms are getting mixed up a little. You need to flash the kexec cwm recovery prior to flashing anything else. The recovery will allow you to flash roms and kernels and bypass the whole locked bootloader issue. Then you can flash Beans and the kexec compatible kernel that you have in the link.

So what triggers the custom boot screen that is warned about in the Q&A on xda?

All I really want to do is restore my app data using Titanium or My Backup Pro and do nightly backups. Also, will we be able to unroot using this method?

Fyi, I have done the following :

-rooted
-flashed CWM
-Installed wifi toggle

For a couple days, I restarted it and never noticed the custom unlock screen.

Yesterday, restarted, and boom. There it was. Not sure why it decided to wait a couple of days, but it did. Bummer

Re: Simple Root Program. NO ODIN required

Having some problems. I ran RootDebugfs (twice) which seemed to work okay. Got the "0's" and it said I was rooted. Then tried Titanium Backup and BusyBox and I get no root errors. Admittedly I am new to this.

Thanks
Scott

Maybe re download the program. Wipe data/factory reset then try to root again

Re: Simple Root Program. NO ODIN required

Does this work on regular unlocked SIII Mini?

This will not work with any recent Android releases, it's pretty old. What release are you trying to root? Take a look at the FAQ in the third post in the thread, and that discusses what you can root. The FAQ says it works on Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0 - 4.0.4), but not Jelly Bean (starts at 4.1). It doesn't seem likely that you still have ICS? So most likely it just doesn't matter if it works on S3 mini or not.

What Android release do you have on your phone?

I have Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
That is disappointing but thanks anyway :)
