Isn't it a bit ridiculous that those of us on Verizon are still on the October Security update? It is one reason why I may switch after this contract. I am tired of always being behind on updates. LG is slow enough.

That's only 2 months behind. Google is still on the December update. (January comes out on the 7th this month, then it's a wait until your particular phone gets it unless you have a Pixel-ish phone and can do it manually.)

Looks like T-Mobile's V40 got an update in December to V40511c with the Nov 2018 Security Patch Level.

AT&T's V40 got an update in November to V405UA10k with the Nov 2018 Security Patch Level.

Verizon's was last updated in mid-November with the Oct 2018 Security Patch Level.

One month off from the other carriers - no big deal.

And if security updates mattered more to you, then you probably should have a Google or BlackBerry phone.

Could not disagree more. As one who has been hacked and had accounts stolen in past these updates are very important to everyone and we should not be forced to buy a phone that we don't like for security when there is zero reasons why they can't keep up with updates. I know they are provided with the security updates quickly because other carriers keep up on them.. It's the middle of January and we sit in October a update. It is ridiculous and all Verizon will say is they are testing it.

That's fine. But Google doesn't force compliance with monthly updates.

I'm interpreting this as "don't be 90 days behind".

I'd list reasons why OEMs can't/won't keep up with monthly updates but you wouldn't care for them, valid or otherwise.

My Tmobile V40 shows December 1 security patch with V405TA11d software.

Just got an update. Went from the October security patch to the December security patch.
