Tiered data starts on the 7th. I just became eligible for upgrade 2 days ago. I have had the Incredible since release. Question is this. I love my phone and have no problems. In my area 4G won't be available till god knows when, but here comes tiered data. Normal 3G use for me is 3 gig avg. Do I use my upgrade to gets 4G phone to sneek in on grandfather tier? And don't tell me to get the TB, I don't like it.

I've heard that if you already have the unlimited plan you are grandfathered in and as long as you are on your current contract you can keep unlimited, even when upgrading from a 3G to a 4G phone.

Yep. At least for now, Verizon is saying that they will grandfather your $29.99 unlimited plan when you upgrade regardless of whether it is 3G or 4G.

So it seems VZW is already revising their pricing. First, you were grandfathered in until you went to 4G, then would be put on tiered pricing, now they are saying you are grandfathered in to your unlimited plan, even if you switch to 4G.

Just think what will have changed four weeks from now.

See, that's the question. Do I go get a 4G to sneek in on grandfather clause, or do I wait to see how many times VZW changes their mind? LOL

I am not pleased with the 4g phone selection. Also 4g has issues. I have the same phone and love it.

Went into Verizon today. Fortunately the guy I talked to, I personally know and know he won't BS me. Unfortunately, he just started 3 weeks ago and is not sure about grandfather. He showed off his new Droid charge, I showed him Android Central. Then I showed off how fast my year old, full of apps, dinc was compared to the charge. I even stopped tinkering with LG revolution enough to help him sell a phone....

I recently upgraded to unlimited data under the assumption that I will be grandfathered in and be able to keep it for the duration of my current contract, even when upgrading from a 3G to a 4G phone. Thirty bucks a month for a mere 2GB worth of data is highway robbery, and if I'm not grandfathered in or if I loose unlimited data at any time wail I'm on my current contract Sprint will be getting a new customer.

Don't worry. You are safe. Grandfathered in. But I have the same opinion. Verizon has made a very stupid move. They have tried similar changes before. They had tiered then dropped them. I bet the complaints will eventually bring back unlimited. Email them. I have. I think the more who complain the better it will be for us.
