Has anyone that still has the "Verizon grandfathered unlimited data plan", tried to use FoxFi for wireless tethering on their new Galaxy S7 Edge?

That is the main thing I am waiting on to find out, before I buy this phone.

thanks

Seems to be working for me. What's weird though, is you need FoxFi for initial setup, but after that I have to toggle the hotspot on/off through the normal settings. FoxFi won't turn it on and off

It will make you go into settings and turn on the hotspot there... been that way for a while not on the Note 5 and then still on the S7E. I think it is a permissions issue with Lollipop and above?

I would just use the stock hotspot app... Much more convenient. And it works fine with Verizon unlimited data with the mobile hotspot addon

Thanks ya'll!
That is good news to me. Looks like I am going to be out some money....:-$

Are you saying that the stock hotspot app works without having to pay an extra fee for it?

No it doesn't. It only works if you add hotspot with Verizon for ...$30/month I think.

Ok. Thanks ClintRo.

I have used the paid FoxFi wireless tethering for years. It works great for me. And, it would be hard for me to do without it. So, as long as it works on the S7 Edge, I will be happy.

Best money I ever spent on an app. Bar none. I think the free version just has some limitations, don't remember, been using paid version for years.

Been a long time since i paid for the FoxFi full version. I don't remember how much it was, maybe $9.99? google play won't show me how much it is now since I own it already.
I think the free version boots you off after 15min or so.

That would require paying a monthly fee though lol. I'll click an extra button to save 30 bucks a month.
