Good evening All.

Okay, those with the Verizon Ultra, what choices do you have in your settings under mobile networks.

Do any of you have an actual 5G setting?

Tier two Verizon tech support is telling me that the Global setting covers the 5G.

I am covered on the map but have yet to see 5G pop up. They said strong 4G areas will override the 5G nationwide.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

You will see 4G more then 5G for awhile. A lot of people are turning 5G off because it's not good yet, worse signal strength, drains battery faster. 5G full deployment is a ways off IMO.

That is correct, global setting for 5G. Im fortunate to have a newly erected tower less than a mile away from my house so 5G coverage is good. You will see 5G show up on the status bar when connected. hth

Thank you both. I knew I needed to come here for verification of what I was being told.

I have an ultra on Verizon & can't turn off 5G...the pic attached is what my phone looks like under settings<connections<mobile data

Does anyone have anything different? Screenshot_20210815-083432_Call%20settings.jpg

This what I have under my network mode.
If I remember right you put it to LTE/CDMA to turn 5G off.

I have yet to see the 5G signal appear on my phone, though there is supposed to be 5G coverage (along with 4G) where I live. Granted, I don't look at my signal 24/7 but makes me feel Verizon has not been real truthful on this subject.

Mine is unlocked on Verizon, and I definitely see the 5G icon at my house. I am over an hour from any major cities...

I even have seen the 5GUW symbol when I get near a 5GUW tower - great speeds.

I don't feel like the 5G Nationwide has any speed improvements. And today I think it has issues when switching back to LTE - kind of like the old HYC phone that brought 4G into the Verizon world. When mine switches, I often find I need to go into and back out of airplane mode to get any internet.

Entire city I live in has Verizon 5G nationwide coverage, my Note 20 Ultra only gets 5G in a very tiny part of town I used to work in. I had 5G at work in part of the building and parking lot, never seen it anywhere else.

I was told by a tech at a local Verizon store that a recent update from Samsung has done something to 5g on the Note 20 Ultras. I was losing signal, down to an X at the status bar. I downloaded an app that locks you on to 4g/LTE. I did that and so far so good.
