Maybe I'm off my rocker, but is there a chance that the Verizon version of this phone is different from the version carried by other US carriers? I know that it is not uncommon for Verizon to trail others in phone launches, but could this be something else?

1. Prior to the pre-order phase, there was speculation of some sort of exclusivity that Verizon held. This has since been proven to be untrue.

2. There is surprisingly little 'insider' information coming from people within Verizon. With a launch of this magnitude, one would think that someone would know something. With other launches, I seem to remember more information being available for other launches.

3. In another thread, there have been suggestions regarding a 'big announcement' coming from Verizon.

If we are supposed to get the same version of the phone as Canadian carriers, why the delay? The phones are clearly available. Is there a remote possibility that we could be getting a different version? Is there any reason that the Korean version could not be made to work with Verizon's LTE network?

So, what are your thoughts on this? Should I break out the tin foil hat? :p Either way, I'll be happy with my S3; something just seems off to me.

interesting thoughts....I am curious as to what this 'big announcement' is supposed to be.

I don't think any announcement was bigger than the Share Everything announcement. I was walking funny after that one.

We already know it is the same, many of us have preordered it, it had specific information and pictures on the Verizon Wireless website. If they changed that, they would have to cancel all the preoders as they would be selling us a different product than we ordered. Also, Samsung has already indicated that the US versions were virtually identical (except radio freqs and carrier software).

Good point firetruck. I didn't remember seeing specific information regarding the processor on the Verizon site. I was wrong. Still though, I don't think too many people would be upset if they switched it to the quad core instead.

Quad Core doesn't work with LTE!!!

only thing is the specs on the verizon site listed the same as the other carriers... Doubt they are going to go and redo all that after they already had the specs and everything set up.

Plus the quad core version has 2 chips since they do not have the integrated quad core chip yet so won't get as good of battery life. Honestly I will take the s3 with dual core s4 over a quad core without integrated lte. For what I do the s4 is plenty enough. Battery>> more cores for me.

I know that it's not a likely scenario at all. I'm just having a hard time buying all of the 'adding bloatware' and shortages as a reason for the delay. I'm likely over thinking it, but it seems strange to me that Samsung wouldn't have the product ready for one of the top (the top?) cell phone service in the US.

On the other hand, I don't think it would be that tough of a sell for Verizon to call the quad core an upgrade and give those of us who pre-ordered the option of cancelling because of the change. I would be very surprised if a tenth of 1% opted out because the phone had a better processor than the other models available in the US. Plus, there could have been a contractual reason for letting the other carriers sell the phone first and withholding the specs if this is the case.

This waiting for my S3 is making me creative. Stay tuned for more far reaching explanations for why I'm not typing this on my new phone.

I think the delay is that VZW doesn't want to halfa$$ a launch like Sprint. It doesn't look good to customers when you barely have enough phones to cover some of the people that pre-ordered.

Sure they are waiting till they can roll the phone out and have people able to walk in the store and buy it without being told there are shortages of the phone and they will have to wait.

I think verizon knew there would not be enough to go around at first and would rather wait a few more weeks and be able to get all preorders out rather than doing the sprint and at&t and shipping some and others are having to wait. Imagine how many PO'd customers they would have if some got there phones weeks before others when preordered at the same time.
