If you still have an unlimited data plan, Verizon will bump the cost $20/month starting in mid November.

BUT, Verizon promises they will no longer throttle unlimited data users..."unlimited" will mean unlimited..no limit on how much data you can use and no slower speeds than any other user.

And...if you get a new phone. ..you can go on a payment plan. ..no need to pay full price upfront.

Verizon promises an open road for unlimited-data customers - CNET

I heard about this, and from my view point, $20 bump is only the beginning, I suspect they will continue to push the price up until they remove the rest of those pesky unlimited users. Honestly for the most part I best most of them don't use enough data to justify going to a specific data plan, but they would likely cost more than they do for unlimited which they don't use much of.

We should not be paying anything for smartphone access to a carrier network given what they charge for data, I mean who actually makes calls anymore.

I'm pretty sure they hate me! And I use about 80-160 gigs a month lol I don't have Internet just use my Hotspot, run my labtop, ps4, friends phones cause they have crap providers..I think I justify using plenty, my bills only 85.60 a month as of right now too

Not sure if anyone else has had a conversation with a VZ Associate about this, but one of the guys mentioned that with the price increase in the UDP it may also give unlimited text and talk. I currently have 2 lines that have the UDP, so the associate said that the charges would be $50 each line for the unlimited data, and then a $20 line access fee per line which would be for the text and talk. That which confused me a little:confused:, so I wanted to know, if anyone else has been told this? Please let me know, thanks.

No

Verizon does not sell unlimited data plans....all the unlimited talk/text plans have tiered data plans.

I still have udp. VZW store guy told me it is going up another $20 in November. Anybody else hear this?

Nope... And i think Verizon would get another call from the FCC if they tried to bump it again.

There was a lot of talk that the FCC was going to force VZW to give UDP users free hotspot too... I'm still waiting.

They never said that... So I don't know who was saying '.. free hitspot' but they didn't hear it from anyone who counted.

But... They are not allowed to block you from using hotspot software... Other than their own.

That's why the built-in hotspot software requires a connect to VZW to check your status.... And thus the built in software ONLY works on Verizon.

Obviously other software works fine.
