Very poor WiFi reception on 2 different Android devices.

I have a Samsung GS4 running on the Bell network. A few weeks ago, I noticed I was getting very poor wifi reception all of a sudden. I would randomly check with the Speedtest app, and sometimes the download speed would be as low as 0.01 mbps. This was not limited to my home wifi either. I noticed it happening on other networks as well. So, thinking that something had gone wrong with the wifi antenna, I went out a bought a new phone. I am now using a ZTE Grand X2 on Bell. This worked great for about 2 weeks and then, BOOM...same issue! My wife has an HTC M9 and has no issues. I also have an Acer tablet that has no issues either. I have switched back and forth between my 2 phones for the last 3 weeks or so. Sometimes one will work great, but inevitably it will eventually get a poor wifi signal. When it happens it can sometimes stay that way for 10 minutes, and sometimes all day. Again, this only seems to be happening to MY devices and it is very random. It is just annoying because, as I said, sometimes when it happens it will be for most of the day.

Does anyone know what might be happening here??? Am I cursed for some reason? I had my GS4 for over a year before the issue started, so I am just not sure what is going on. I have heard something bout IP addresses and maybe my devices are being kicked off of a network...but I really don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all!

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced, and see if there are any Wi-fi Optimization options. If so, turn them off--these are actually for battery saving, not to improve wi-fi performance. Also see if there are any "Smart Network Switch" options--turn that off as well.

You've probably already checked, but it's also worth making sure that when this happens, you're actually connected to the network you want to be connected to. For example, if you're a Comcast subscriber and you've ever connected to an xfinitywifi public hotspot, the phone might unwittingly connect you to one again--even in your own home, because your router also broadcasts one of these public hotspots. The download speeds on these public hotspots are usually significantly slower than your own private network speed.

Yes, I have checked all of these things, no luck unfortunately. Still seeking an answer if any one knows!!!
