Very slow internet speed on wifi

Per the wifispeedtest, I have a signal strength of between 74 and 86%. Per a signal strength meter on my phone I have a signal of about -84 which to me is not that bad.

I have a wilson signal booster in my house. It is approximately 30 feet from my computer and the phone itself is right there with the booster. I seem to get better service with it there.

However, connection is slow and sometimes just goes away. I get 4g in and out where I live but it is spotty.

Seems to me with such a signal, I should have better connection. Should I?

Have you run a speed test at all? Use Ookla from playstore. And a technician already told me that the more electronics around the worse the performance. Which I find to be somewhat true. When away from my laptop, Roku, Tv, etc., I get a little better data speed. My signal strength ranges from -83 to -87 depending on where in the house I'm at. underground basement it's -85. My 4G speeds are okay. But at home I mainly use wifi and use the data for mms, or just for the heck to see how fast it is. Pretty good going to various websites.

You need to run a speed test and post the results. Also, post what speed you pay for, what router you have, what band you are on, etc, so we can see where the issue lies.

I get great wifi in my house and at work on my phone unless, there too many devices on the router. Then there will be degradation of your speeds, depending on what is pulling the most bandwidth. Try disconnecting other devices in your house to see if this is the culprit. But as tourbound129 mentions, we kind of need to know what you pay for, your router, etc....

I had intermittent speed issues on WiFi until I downloaded an app called DNSet. It's got something to do with WiFi connectivity, and I think it may be related to having Comcast as your internet provider (but I'm not sure I'm remembering that correctly). There's a thread in here somewhere about it, but you'll have to track it down. All I can tell you for sure is that It fixed my WiFi issues.

I downloaded the app just to see what would happen. I wasn't having any issues. I did a speed test and got some of the most ridiculous speeds I've ever gotten. I have Comcast Xfinity X1 with speed boost. I also had two very low test results. I need to look into how this app works. Don't understand how my speeds got so much faster.

I sent a notice of bad signal to sprint and now it is fine. I live about a mile from the tower.I don't think it was even on yesterday as I had now signal near it.

Im having the same issue. My old phone felt like it was faster but now with my g4 it loads very slow. I have Comcast X1, i pay for 75mbps, my routers brand is Cisco model DPC3941T and I'm connected to 5ghz band. I ran a speed test and got great results but it still loads webpages slow. The only devices connected to my WiFi is my TV, my wife's and mine G4 and desktop that's connected thru Ethernet.

I have the 2 bands also. I have all mine connected to 2.4. Seems like the 5 you can't be to far away or it doesn't pick up the signal from router to good. My house being smaller, anything on 5 has to be in the same room practically. I have G4, laptop, tablet, 3 Rokus (not all running at once), the router (on all the time) all connected to wifi. I'd say try switching your channel to 2.4 and only 1 or 2 pieces of equip on 5.

I'd like to know how that ping works, lol. Sometimes the ping is 175 ms, other times 75 ms. Heck, coming from Washington DC or New York, I'm in central/eastern PA. But, if I choose a closer site, the speed is worse. Weird to me.

I don't use a router and I don't see how one would help me as I should always have my phone near me when on the computer. If I do have to move the phone away from the computer I guess I could buy a cheap wireless router.

I ran across this article on facebook that may be beneficial to those with a router. Google 10 ways to boost your wireless signal

Based on the speeds your getting, it could be a problem with Chrome. I know there is way you can make it load faster, I'll have to find the settings fix for Chrome.
