Vibrate alert when receiving texts/calls

This is my first smart phone and I've always just used the vibration ring tone for calls and texts. On my last phone it would vibrate 3 separate times for a text and continuously vibrate for calls. With the Droid Ultra, I just get a real faint vibration for texts that lasts for less than a second and then that's it. It's impossible for me to notice it when the phone is in my pocket. Is there a way to make the phone vibrate longer to alert me and is there any way to make the vibration stronger? Thank you.

I just got this phone 2 days ago. Under the sound settings, you can select different vibration patterns. There;s 5 different ones to choose from.
