Hello,

I keep missing calls on my smartphone (which is partly due to my hearing impairment).
I thought it might be possible to use a smartwatch or another bracelet that is paired with the smartphone (Android) to alert me with vibrations...

1) Does anyone know of any alternatives to smartwatches that can do this?

2) I wouldn't need much as a smartwatch:
- rather small, simple and elegant -> I like the look and feel of the Pixel Watch -> many others are/feel huge on the wrist.
- strong vibration as an alarm
- long battery -> not necessarily a week, but more than a day (I've heard that the battery on the Pixel Watch isn't good)

Welcome to Android Central forums.

A Little searching turned up several alternatives that would depend on your level hearing impairment. I found several wearable speakers that you could wear closer to ears without being ear buds or headphones. Excuse me for wondering if your hearing loss was more severe to the point you could use hearing aids because many brands are BT compatible with devices these days.

For example I found this wearable assistant and others like it that advertise "better than your phone speakers" sound in a wearable device that clips on to you in many locations. I had some difficulty finding any that openly talked about a vibration function even though most models looked like old school pagers. The downside for the ones I looked at was battery life compared to what you're asking for. I think 16 hours was the longest I found in this style.

Then I found fitness trackers like this one that also alerts to calls. The battery life is a lot more than you would get with a normal smartwatch. The one below claims 336 hours, which surely varies based on use.

You just have search for what you want and then you can check reviews on YouTube.

Then of course full blown smart watches.

Have you looked into earbuds? With better quality ones you can answer and place calls and texts, among other things.

I'm not looking for for what I stated - not anything plugged in my ears.
I do look for an unobtrusive device vibrating on me to notice the call. That I could wear continousley not like ear phones or a like.

Actually thats why I'm asking here - for some real advises and experiences.

I don't know if devices like these are popular enough these days. Just looking around, I found several posts and best device lists from between 2011 and 2016 and not too much after that. For instance I found almost your same question posted here at AC but from 2014.

I figured there has to be better resources out there for topics related to accessibility devices but really turned up a blank. Even finding a forum related to hearing loss that would accept topics outside of hearing aids and health turned up little. I found one FB group that seemed like it might show promise but then was blocked from looking any farther unless I wanted to register or join their community.

I have to say I was quite surprised at these results.

Just based on the research I've done in response to your question I would have to say that a fitness tracker of some kind is going to the be the thing that best fits all of your criteria. They're smaller than a watch, many have accessories that allow you to dress them up for that elegance factor, most have multi day operation on a single charge, many a week or more, and that vibrate with notifications and alarms. Like smart watches they do more than just alert you to incoming calls but unlike watches don't offer much in the way of apps outside of fitness. When I searched YouTube, wearable devices with phone notifications, ironically the first results I got were from 4 and 9 years ago but as I went down the list I found some more recent offerings, albeit they were specific to recently released or updated devices. Meaning one would probably be seeking a brand or device to find them.

Perhaps others will pop in with other suggestions but it is looking like reviews on YouTube may offer you the best options for information.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Best wishes.
