I am using a 128GB class 10 Samsung SDXC UHS-1 memory card to store all my photos and videos from my Xperia Z3.
Recently I have encounter two videos that I recorded, cannot be played back in the phone itself and even after the video files have been downloaded to computer. In the phone, when the video file is attempted to be played, an error message saying "Invalid URL" will appear. The file sizes are large for both file, close to 800MB.
These two videos are recorded with Full HD 30fps, for a length of about 5 minutes.
These two videos are recorded at separate occasions, the 2nd one is like 1 month after the 1st one.

There is one thing in common between these two files, that is both videos are recorded with the use of the PAUSE function. What I mean is, I record 1 minute of a scene, then I click pause, and after a while I click record again to record another minute, and repeat this process till the end of the video.

I cannot predict when this phenomenon will happen, nor can I deliberately make it to re-occur, so I cannot really diagnosis the problem and pin-point the root cause myself.

I had recorded video with similar PAUSE method of greater time length and encounter no issue at all. So I am a little puzzle why this Invalid URL error will occur on these 2 files.

My questions to the forum members:
1) Do you know what causes this to happen?
2) I still have the Invalid URL mp4 video files, is there a way I can make them play-able like normal mp4 file again?

Thank you.

Have you tried recording these videos directly to Internal memory rather than the Micro SD card? I'm wondering if the Micro SD card is having a hard time keeping up with the bandwidth required for the recording, or perhaps there is something wrong with the Micro SD Card altogether.

Thanks for your reply.
I haven try it before. But the thing is, there are videos (a lot) that can be successfully play back without any issue. So if it is the Memory Card problem then it got to be random, which is suck it means I can never know when it will re-occur.
I try just now, recording 11 minutes Full HD 30fps video at one shoot (without using PAUSE), the video recorded can be successfully played back. It produces a file size of 1.4GB.
And then immediately after that, I continue to shoot another lengthy video to test. This time at 10 minutes, I pause it, and after about 10 seconds, I resume the recording. Shortly after that, at about 13 minutes I realize (I put the phone on table facing a window, I do not stare at it continuously) there is a message comes out in the middle of the screen (the phone is still recording). It says the temperature of the device is rising and if continue to rise it will shut down.
So I stopped the recording after finish reading. Even with this warning message, the file produced (13:05 minutes, 1.6GB) can still be played back successfully in the phone. But the phone is indeed hot. Well I am not even shooting a 4K video.

So with these two trials, which produced video files much larger in size than my previous two problematic video files, I think the memory card should be working fine.

However ,this bring something into my mind. It could be the HEAT!
Because I was shooting a lot of short videos before I shot the Invalid URL video (same for both occasions, I was like shooting video on and off continuously for at least 10minutes before I come to that problematic video). It just that before the problematic video file is recorded, all those videos are short in length, like not more than 2 minutes, whereas the problematic videos are 5 minutes.

If it is really due to the heat that causes my file to corrupt, kind of disappointed by the performance of the phone. I am not even shooting a 4K video which I knew a lot has complained about heat issue.

Note: I am using a leather flip case. Maybe I should change to a bumper case just to have more heat dissipation?
