Video grainy when played on phone?

Ok I added some videos to my phone from the pc and they are grainy when played. Any settings that would cause this? I tried vlc player and it's the same. These videos should be crystal clear like they were on my N5.

I've only streamed so far as I don't have my sd card yet, but once I get one I'll load up some video and get back to you.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's on the sd card or the phone. First time I have seen video on the device look bad. Streaming looks great though.

I just meant because I didn't wanna fill up space with the movies I already own. I generally only put media on sd cards if the phone has one.

Yeah that's true. Man I kinda really hate it but that 256Gb card coming for free Tuesday makes me say hmmm do I really care?! I do but I just wondered if there were settings hidden that may fix it. Guess I need to try the 1Gb version of my videos. Maybe it just don't like my cams mp4.
