Video in full screen

Wondering if anyone knows how to fix the issue of video not showing up in full screen? It doesn't matter if it's HD or not, but YouTube and even videos from the web do not show in full screen in landscape mode.

Anyone else having this issue?

YouTube does let you zoom in to fill the screen in full screen mode using the pinch out gestrure.

The root of the problem is that all new Android phones now favor 2:1 aspect ratio instead of traditional 16:9. So videos will never fill entire screen unless you zoom in and cut some parts off.
