Video Messages Problem

when i receive a video message, i hit the play button in the middle of the message, it then brings me to a screen where it will show the image that is incorporated in to the video, but it does not play the volume portion of the message til about 5 seconds later...its on some sort of delay. if i save the attchment and just open it through the phone it plays fine...but not when i just open it directly from the message app.

any ideas?
im using handcent, but its also an issue with the stock app.
