Trying to get some video on the phone to watch, but I am having troubles when it comes to playing the file. On the specs, I seen the phone supports WMV. When I try to play a WMV, it tells me "File Type Not Found" or something like that anyways. I choose to open the file, as Video, in a File Manager. It plays the audio, but does not play the video.

I have tried encoding using Windows Media 7 Video and Windows Media 9 Video codecs and neither have worked thus far. At the moment, I decided to take a break and give the H.264 a shot.

The Eris is suppose to support WMV, however, Windows Media 7 and 9 Video codecs are not working... so does anyone know the exact details for the codec to use and/or any specific encoding properties which may be required?

The H.264 worked just fine. It finished encoding while I was typing this.

try using cinema. I have not had a problem yet playing movies, in mp4 format. Some of the movies that wont play on my ps3 play on my eris

Anytime I try to use the you tube app it tells me video cam not be played. Any idea what's wrong

I use a piece of software called 'Any Video Converter' - it's free and does a fantastic job of coverting to and from most any format. I've been using small MPEG and FLV format on the phone with no problems at all. (episodes of cartoons for my son).

I can't get a wmv video to play for more than 2-3 seconds without the screen freezing, too. This must be a video player error. anyone else having this problem?
