Video recording using up a lot of space

So I recently discovered that my video camera seems to be consuming a lot of my internal memory. A 12 min video shows 1 gb and a 4 min video shows 400 mb on my phone! Is there any setting where I can reduce the quality of video recording on the camera?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to the Camera app's settings and look for an option to change the video camera's resolution. You might not be able to go below 720p, though, which can still lead to a big file if you record for more than a few minutes. If you want to record at a really low resolution (like at VGA resolution), you might have to look on the Play Store for a 3rd party video camera app.
