I have been looking around for cables that allow you to transfer whats on your screen to the tv. I found slimport was one that works with the G2. I know my old phone worked with a MHL cable. Does anybody else know of other things that work?

I don't think the G2 supports MHL. An alternative would be a wireless solution like the Chrome cast or Miracast.

MHL is the industry standard for mobile audio / video interfacing to HDTVs. SlimPort is another interfacing standard that LG uses.. MHL does not work w/ the G2 so you need to purchase a SlimPort adapter.

Chromecast is limited to specific apps but Miracast will transfer anything on your display (plus the audio).
