Videocast Mobile from Android Tablet?

This is maybe a stupid question, but I've never had a tablet.

We often stream local movies from our computer to Google Chromecast, using the Videocast Mobile app. However, in our new apartment, the WiFi network is too weak and the cast doesn't work properly.

That's why I thought about buying a tablet. Then I would save the movie files locally on the tablet (instead of the computer) and cast them from the tablet to Google Chromecast by using the same Videocast Mobile app. Since the tablet is a mobile device, I could place it right in the living room and the WiFi network wouldn't be a problem because the connection is strong enough there.

Does this work? Can I save movie files locally on the tablet and stream them from my tablet to Google Chromecast by the Videocast Mobile App?

It's maybe a stupid question, but I got confused, because when I open the Videocast Mobile App on my smartphone, I can choose local files from my computer. Will I be able to choose videos from my tablet? Does the tablet count as a "computer"? Or do I have to stream the videos directly from the tablet?

Does this work?

No. Both the tablet and the Chromecast have to have a good wifi signal from the router. You can't use the tablet as a source of internet any more than you can use the computer as a source of internet.

Just put the router closer to the TV and computer. (If the apartment comes with Wifi, you'll have to pay for your own - they're not really giving you Wifi, they're giving you a taste of Wifi that's not strong enough to use.) (If there's some spot from which you can get a good wifi signal, you can use any router that can run dd wrt or Tomato Router in repeater mode [this page for dd wrt, this page for Tomato Router] to get a better signal where you need it.)
