watching recorded camera videos.... ok
youtube....ok
playstore movies...ok

but when streaming movies from the web browser(stock or chrome), the videos are jumpy. like a fast pause/play/pause/play... cycle. the sounds plays ok though, and the video buffers ahead.
any ideas?
i even installed a different video player from the playstore.

my old note 2 had no issues. how am i supposed to watch my hamster movies?;)

I had that last night for the first time. I was in a different part of the house and I have my wifi on a range extender. For some reason, that splits up my wifi and I manually changed to a different one of equal high strength and it stopped the choppiness. Maybe just turning the wifi off and back on does something.... I noticed in the manual it says not to put your hand around the antenna area. I wonder if it's not as strong as the other Notes and/or our case might hinder it somehow.

does this happen on lte also?

weird, the choppiness seems to happen when i'm on my wifi. i wonder why that would do this??

I believe I see it while on 4G also. Not just WiFi. Not super choppy, but enough to notice that it's not streaming smoothly compared to watching off of something like YouTube.

***EDIT***
Just tried playing the streaming videos through MX Player instead of the stock video player and it is the same.

What carrier are you with? It wouldn't happen to be Sprint would it?

Same problem. I played the same streaming video on the Note 3 and Note 2 side by side. Note 3 choppy, Note 2 perfect. I am on AT&T.

Just tried using Naked Browser with/without Flash side loaded. Streamed videos are still choppy. I did notice that If that same video is downloaded first instead of streamed, and then played with the built-in video player it plays fine. Pretty weird.

I haven't had this issue. But it'd you don't mind telling me what video you are trying to stream, I will test it on my Note and tell you the difference.

I made some progress with this and wanted to share. :)

Playing any streaming videos from the browser still doesn't seem to work so great with the built-in Samsung player. I got MX player to work nicely. I haven't tested any other video players yet, besides the stock and MX. Hopefully will test out some others to compare quality shortly.

Try this with MX player.
Go to settings > Decoder
Choose to use hardware + decoder. (H/W+)
You can choose to use it for local files as well as the default for Network play.

Navigate to your streaming video with your browser and click. When presented with the options to use Internet, MX player, Video Player, choose MX. If you chose to use H/W+ as default, you should be set. But up in the top right of the player there is a little section showing what decoder is being used. Clicking on that you can toggle through three options.

Using either S/W or H/W+ decoders works and plays the videos without the lag/chop. H/W shows the choppyness, so be sure to use H/W+. H/W+ looks a bit higher quality than S/W to my eyes.

Give it a shot! :)
