Just did my first hike using my S3 Frontier. I started the hike on the S3 which tracked the hike and worked just fine. Does the hike get synced to the S3 and / or synced to a web site? With my Fitbit I could view the hike and its stats on a map on the Fitbit app and their website.

On your phone check the Samsung Health app.

I use Endomondo on my phone and S3 Frontier. On the watch I can see 3 screens of information while I am doing the activity as well as a map of where I am. At the conclusion, it syncs to my phone which also syncs to my on-line endomondo account. https://www.endomondo.com/

I did check the Samsung Health app. The steps and distance were added to the totals for the day but not the 10 floors indicated on the S3. Other than that, I found no indication that I had gone hiking. In fact the only activity the app shows for the month I've had it is one walk. So far, the Samsung Health app is considerable less useful than the Fitbit app.

I'll have to look at Endomodo. Thanks for the recommendation.

So, it appears that for both Samsung Health and Endomondo that there is no auto recognition of an activity, correct? I can live with that.

I also found that Samsung Health does keep track of all steps (in an activity or not) which answers my other question.
