Question Virtual partitions a/b how do they work?

hello, I read the official android documentation about virtual a/b partitions, but I understood really little about it, I know how normal a/b partitions work, but not virtual partitions, can you explain me how they work please?

And not every android device maker uses that.

Samsung, for example, does not use the seamless update method. Your device is basically dead to the world for the 5-10 minutes it takes to install the update.

Which is just slower storage memory.
Honestly don't see the benefits for higher end phones. Now if was available for lower spec devices that would be nice.
