In the phone app, under keypad, I am looking for a way that when pressing the voice mail icon goes to At&t's visual voice mail app.Currently, when I press the button it goes to regular voice mail.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make that go to visual voicemail, as I would prefer to access it through that button than an app.
In the voicemail settings there is a voicemail number. Maybe that can be changed to point it to visual voicemail?

I know there is a way to setup google voice but would like to see if I can get the at&t side working.
Any help on this would be awesome as I'd like to access visual voice mail through the voice mail button.

I have the app, but I would like to not have clutter on my screen. I don't mind having the app on my phone.
What I'm seeing is if there is a way to get the voicemail icon directly in the phone app and change that to link to the at&t app.

or on the back end is there a number that directs you specifically to your visual voice mail.
basically 111-555-5555 would bring you to regular voice mail but 111-555-5556 would bring you to visual voicemail straight from that button.
or at least be able to change the action of the voice mail button to link to the voice mail app.

Visual Voicemail sucks big balls on Android. It would be nice if visual voicemail was included in the stock Phone or Messages app, but its not. We have to use AT&T Messages (which sucks even bigger balls) or some other 3rd party app like Google Voice.

Samsung, AT&T, or whoever is to blame needs to pull their head out of their ass and fix this problem.

Have any of you tried YouMail? It's a pretty awesome app for handling voicemails but i don't think it'll answer OP's question, as it requires it's own stand alone app to check your voicemails. Basically it forwards your voicemails to it. The thing I like about it is your voicemail messages can be customized, and mine currently tells the person, "Hello Mike, Ken can't answer the phone right now, blah blah" and it's personalized to every caller. It's freaked everyone out that's called so far :)

Youmail sounds pretty cool, I may try it out.

as for Pdelponte there are 2 apps you should be able to use for visual voice mail for the AT&T Galaxy s3.
AT&T Messages - which I really didn't like
AT&T Visual Voicemail - just the voice mail part it's not bad but not as integrated into the phone as I would like.

There's an actual Visual Voicemail app thats way better than ATT Messages. You can download it from the google play store. ATT Messages is like a virus in my opinion! :)

Seems like unless you were just already in the phone app it would be just as easy to hit the att visual voicemail shortcut. I have no problem with the visual voicemail app.

Visual Voicemail works just fine. Call AT&T and make sure you are partitioned for it on LTE. Download the app and follow the steps. It's that easy.

To the OP, when you start a thread that has already been posted, it should show you where the original thread is posted so that you can add to that thread instead. FYI and NBD but use the forum search feature.

Forget it. Iphone would be starting another law suit. I to wish it worked like it did on my iphone but alas even here in Canada I am stuck with the same work around. I would say the problem is more with patent laws than android.

I guess no luck for that. If it was rooted would, I possibly be able to code the behavior of the voice mail button?
