So early today I was texting on my phone and was having no issues. When I arrived at work today I set my phone down, and it was then the issues began. The phone turned off suddenly. I held the button to turn it back on, and it stayed on the opening white screen that said "HTC" in green letters. It remained like this for about 15-20 seconds, then turned back to black. Then, without me touching it, it turned back to the white screen, remained there for 15 seconds, then turned back on. This continued for about 3 minutes, in which it drained the 10% of my battery that remained.

I decided to plug my phone in to fix the problem. The notable orange light took about 20 seconds to show up. It then blinked for a second, then began doing a short blink every 5 seconds after. After this happened for a bit, it remained at orange, then a few minutes later, I got the general picture of the battery on the black background with the % charge under it. I waited until the battery was at 15%, which was a reasonable amount to see if it would turn on. With the phone, still charging, I decided to turn it on.

The process of going to the white screen, waiting 15 seconds, and turning off, repeated itself again until the battery drained. I currently have it plugged in with the picture of the charging battery visible and the orange light seen, with a charge of 20%. If anyone has experienced this issue, please explain how you fixed it. I am considering ordering a new battery, although I am just not sure why this happened so suddenly. My Vivid was showing no sign of issue early in the day.

No experience with this. I would suggest removing the battery for say 15 seconds and try again.

If it was/is a battery issue, the orange LED light would constantly blink when you plugged it in and would not show the charging symbol. My guess would be to see if there is anything to n the contacts, any dirt or broken contacts. Have you dropped the phone recently?
