VM Moto G 3rd Gen won't connect to cameras via Wifi

Hello, I have a 3rd gen VM Moto G, recently auto updated by VM to Android 6.0.1. When I try to connect to a Nikon P340 pocket camera via Wifi, the phone says connected: no internet, and the camera is still trying to negotiate a connection, and ultimately times out. I have the same issue with a Panasonic GM5 and Nikon J4 cameras. All these cameras readily connect to my older Hisense tablet running Android 4.2.1. You can see an example of what I'm getting here:
