Vodafone Message+ permanently "Connecting to service"

Has anyone got Message+ working on their S4 mini? I have installed it on 3 other phones and it has worked fine. However, my S4 mini refuses to cooperate. In the app under Settings>Chat settings it permanently displays "Connecting to service" and will only allow SMS messages. On the other phones it says "Connected to service" and permits SMS and Chat
