On my captivate there is no app for voice dial from my contacts. Then I just got an email from att that for $ 4.99 a month I would be able to do it.
I am pissed if this is the case.
With my bold and RIM I had this ability. Does anyone know if this is going to be the only way to use something that should have been part of the phone.
Also does verizon have the same thing because I am about to switch due to the dropped calls and the coverage Im not getting with at&t.

Well the problem is in 2.1 there was no voice dial via the blue tooth stack, in Froyo it is in the stack. It is not a big deal, but I would not subscribe to the voice dial for $ 4.99 a month *waste of money*. I know what you are stating about the RIM and Bold because my 8300, 8310 and 9000 I could voice dial with ease even on my Razr V3, V551, and a Razr2 all had voice dialing, but with the captivate it does. Not samsung's fault but more of a fault with Android 2.1 but it will be fixed next month when we are supposed to get Froyo *2.2*... I would just recommend be patient..

Well the Droid 2, Droid and Droid X all have froyo now, so voice dialing should work fine, Droid Incredible is due for Froyo as well, so if you get a Verizon phone, make sure it has froyo because if not, you will not be able to voice dial..

Thanks I am going to wait to see, but I am going to see about a new phone today. I have been having problems. They gave me a new battery the 2nd day I had the phone. That helped with the phone getting so hot you could not hold it. Then a week ago they changed the sim card. Dropped calls and hardly any bars.
Now the phone wifi seems to be messing up. Shows poor signal even when next to my router. This just started and I am losing internet connection on wifi. Also the back button isn't working, My screen is freezing where I have to pull the battery.
To think I made fun of the torch in crackberry, next thing I know mine stats acting up. Must be karma
Thanks for your reply

Well raven71,
It happens, my first Captivate had an issue of the Home and Back Buttons kept getting activated on their own and would not charge properly at all, got super hot and it would only get to 88% even after being plugged in to the wall charger for 6 hours. It was doing the home buttons and back buttons were activating right in the store. I took it back the same day and got the Captivate I am running now. It is an awesome phone. Once you get one that is working properly I guarantee you will love it.

Cheers,
Charlie
