I have noticed that the voice dialer app does not work. It might have worked before the last patch but now it does not work at all. Does it work for anyone else?

I have yet to actually get it to call someone. I have a contact for my wife "Amy" and it refuses to call her. Nor does it call "Dad" or "Mom"...

I've been seeing the same behavior. I have yet to successfully get the phone to actually call anyone using voice dial, though using google voice for searching the web works very well. Figured I was doing something wrong and planned to check into it over the weekend.

Its like its not recognizing the microphone so it does nothing. Same thing happens on two other Evos that my friends have. Taking the battery out seemed to have fixed it. Being new to the Android OS I hope thats not going to be something that needs to be done regularly.

There is a problem with the voice dialer app. However, you don't need to use it to voice dial.

Just be at your home screen and press and hold the search button on your phone. Then say "Call <whoever>"

Same story, the web search works amazingly well, but I can't get the voice dial to accurately select any contact.

This just does a web search for me. It is accurate however. If I spoke, "Call Susan", Google would open up with a 'call Susan' in the search box.

I've had issues with my voice dial program calling the wrong number. Case in point is I wanted it to call my friend on his mobile, and despite me trying to tell it in several different ways it kept wanting to call his house. I rarely call his house because he is rarely home, and his mobile is set as primary. I dunno why it sucks so bad but I quit using it.

It will only open a search box if

1. It wasn't sure what you said and is presenting you with options of what it thought it heard or

2. The contact you are trying to call has multiple numbers. I.e. you have a number set for "home" and "mobile".

If you have multiple numbers set you have to specify when you give the voice command.

"Call Susan Mobile".
