Hi all,

This isn't about bluetooth or froyo, but I can only get the voice dialer to bring up the primary number of a contact. For instance, with a contact with a mobile number set as primary contact, it won't bring up their home or work number. I've tried every type of syntax I can think of and just can't get it to bring up any other number.

Has anyone else experienced this? If you have, does the new update fix the issue? TIA.

Are your contacts linked?

Blah, I'm not running Sense. I have vanilla android and when I click on dialer and go to contacts, then it shows my contacts. If I click on one of them, it shows "home", "mobile", etc...
Does yours not do that?

My contacts are linked. I am using sense and when I go into "people" I can click on a contact and see all of the numbers there. I just can't get the voice dialer to call anything other than the number that is set as primary. I have all of my contact's information, but I'm talking about using the voice dialer here.

Edit: Okay, try saying in the voice dail application, "call name home" or "call name mobile"
Is this what you're trying to do?

Also, you could try the Vlingo app on the market. It costs $10.00, but I find it better on the road than the normal Android voice dailer because it offers a lot of functionality and is more reliable.
For example, I can say "Call Dad mobile" and it'll give a confirmation for about 10 seconds. If it's right, you just let it dial in 10 seconds or click the button it provides... if not, then you can click cancel.

Exactly! I've tried that and used other variations such as "at home", "on mobile", etc. No matter what I try, it will recognize the contact's name, but only pull up the primary number. "Call contact home" brings up contact mobile if mobile is the primary.

Weird, then you might just have to get another voice dialing application.
Like I said, I suggest Vlingo. It's what I use but it's a bit costly... you can try it out and always refund it within 24 hours though.

It has a widget that you can place on your homescreen. If you tap and hold the search button, you can use Vlingo.
It's actually very accurate, and Android CEntral has done tests on it.

Jerry did some tests on it. Check it out.

Also, it has more features off the bat for a dedicated voice user.
I use it and it works when I say "Call xxxxx mobile" or "Call xxxxxxx home".
