voice dialing shortcut?

Is there a voice dialing shortcut on the one? Maybe I'm spoiled with siri, but I'm used to one button press and then saying the command, not "click click click speak". Trying to do that while driving was a pain in the bum. This is *almost* a deal breaker problem at this point, since I drive so much for work.

I cane from a iPhone5 also and I hold the home button down and it starts Google now. Then just say Google and it will talk to you.

Like said above, holding the home button activates Google Now. It works very similarly to Siri and you can use it to voice dial.

Have you tried the HTC "Car": app in the app drawer? I briefly looked at it and it has a button that does calls and plays music. Sounds a lot like siri. Also can configure any other apps with large easy to read/reach buttons.

I don't have an HTC "car" app. I have an ATT drive app, but that's useless.

Should have it- The icon is like a white steering wheel with a red center. It is on my ATT One and I didn't download it. This is what the opening screen looks like. The buttons are editable and you can scroll to at least one additional screen

Except.... you can't do it from a sleeping phone, you have to unlock, then press the home to get to google now, THEN press the mic button to get it to listen to you, then HOPE it gets your request right. The first few times I tried to do it, it googled wrong things, rather than dialing.

Seriously, this plus the *huge* learning curve, my magically disappearing calendar appointments, the charging issues/battery life problems, the volume button, lack of a silence button/switch that will quiet ALL noises... I'm starting to rethink this.

I like to carry ONE device. Not two, three, or four. At the moment, I'm having to still carry around my 4s for the calendar, the ipod and apps I haven't found replacements for yet. Maybe I'm jaded because I'm expecting to be as blown away as I was when I got my 3gs. Or at least as pleased as I was when I got my 4s. I am having to hunt for things that I like about the phone and so far, the inconveniences are overshadowing the good points-- this is shocking to me, because i was seriously HYPED about this phone.

Yes, I installed adw launcher and it appeared. F ing Att. I don't like this launcher though. Anyone have any rec's for a different one? I actually liked it the way it was, stock! But yes, that car app is useful and I want it.

Problem: I want to keep blink feed (like it) I want the car app, and I want to be able to hide all the stupid att apps in ONE folder where I can stick it somewhere I won't have to look at it. Suggestions?

I like Apex but and third party launcher will disable Blinkfeed. Search for different car app. Maybe it's available on play store. Also, I hid all the bloatware from the phone while in the app drawer.

Sent from my HTC One using Android Central Forums

So wait, there is a car app that that only appears when you are using a third party launcher?

Also, I love nova launcher. I have the premium version, mainly because I like Nova so much I wanted to support the developer, I don't really use the features that came with the premium over the free.

I didn't realize you couldn't do it from a sleeping phone. My car has a voice control button on the steering wheel and it wakes the phone up automatically.
