Voice to Text with stock messaging app (or any)

I currently utilize the G3 stock messaging app for texting. I like the feature of voice to text and use Google Now in order to initiate a text via voice. My question is that I would like to respond to a text via voice and can't figure out how to do that within the app itself (if even possible). If I have a current text thread/conversation going with someone, I'd like to just be able to push a button or something and speak the text, then send it. All I currently know how to do is send the initial text with voice via Google Now.

Is that possible with the stock messaging app or any (Hangouts, etc).

Thanks

That's normally part of the keyboard. There should be a key with a mic symbol. (I don't know the stock LG keyboard, but you can always use something like SwiftKey Keyboard for everything in the phone.) You long-pres that key and the voice-to-text screen should come up and start taking dictation. For any app that uses keyboard input.

Go into language and input,
Select lg keyboard settings,
Select bottom row keys layout.
