Voice to Text

I recently dropped my old HTC Aria and had to "upgrade" to a HTC Vivid. I used the voice to text feature a lot. All I had to do was tap the button and it would listen to my voice. My new Vivid requires me to tap and hold the voice to text function and when I finish I have to tap a "done" button. Does anyone know how to change this? I can handle tapping "done," but I would like to not have to tap and hold the microphone button. Thanks to all that reply.
