Everytime i restart my phone i always get the voicemail icon appear even though i dont have any voicemails at all. I just usually clear the phone data in Applications Manager, but i was wondering if there was a way to keep this icon off until i actually have a voicemail message.

Welcome to Android Central!

Do you know if your carrier has visual voicemail? If they do try downloading it from the play store and seeing if it will get the icon to go away. It might just be a glitch in the carriers voicemail system. I had that happen on my T-Mobile phone and I used their Visual Voicemail to fix it.

Hey thanks for the reply an suggestion.

Unfortunately my network provider (3) doesn't offer a Visual Voicemail application.

Not an overly big deal regarding the icon but just knowing it's there when it shouldn't be bugs me a little.

I was previously on o2 a few years ago then i joined 3 an had my number changed over, so what i think has happened i've had a voicemail when the number was getting changed over an it's got stuck somewhere.

If that isn't the case then i've no idea.

Yeah it sounds like some kind of network bug or something going on with the voicemail system. Maybe it will work it self out eventually.

If you go to settings > apps manager > search for phone > clear data. This will remove the icon. I had the same problem on my samsung a5. Hope this helps.
