Voicemail notification doesn't work on my phone

I get absolutely no notification on my phone that I have a voice-mail. I get a missed call notification, but nothing indicating that anyone left a message. I've gotten to the point now where if I see that I've gotten a missed call, I automatically check to see if I have a message. It can be a bit of a pain.

I've googled this issue and many others are having the same problem but I have found no help to fix it.

I've also looked at Google Play to see if some app would notify me of voice-mails, but nothing there either.

Anyone have any idea how to correct?

I have the same problem after rooting and not using TouchWiz launcher. I tried to use Google voice but evidently I don't know what I'm doing........nothing new on that front, since I don't.....

Same issue here as well, rooted without the stock touchwiz launcher. Mine will usually pop by the next day, so if it wasn't an important call i stopped dialing my voicemail. But nothing I've tried has worked, so i can't provide any help, sorry.
