Voicemail Quality

How is the voicemail quality for everyone? Mine is terrible. There is what seems like static when I play a message. I haven't been able to determine if it's Verizon, HTC, or Google Voice. I also haven't been able to locate a "fix". I've tried both GV and HTC's visual voicemail. However, when I dial *86 and use Verizon's voicemail it sounds normal. I'd like to use a visual voicemail app if possible.
