Voicemail question

So I am on fi and I get voicemail notifications but the count is wrong. I have 1 new voicemail and notification show me that I have 5 new msgs. How can I fix that?

Go to Settings>Apps, tap Menu>Show System, and see if there's a BadgeProvider app. If so, clear the cache/data from that app.

Thanks but that didn't work

Pretty much every time someone leaves a voicemail it stays in system somehow and doesn't sync. When I call voicemail it tell me I have zero msgs

I don't use Google Fi, so I don't know this for sure, but is there a way to check your voicemails online? If so, does it also show only one new voicemail there as well?

Can also clear data, cache, force stop phone app

Cleared Phone app data, didn't do anything. There is a Voicemail app but I can't clear app data for that. Checked online, shows no voicemails.
Apparently everytime someone leaves a voicemail, the count jumps by 1 even if I erase that voicemail

Spoke to Google Fi support. You will probably get more support just by dialing a random number. I don't think those people in live chat know they work for Google Fi, it's like talking to a wall there.

One thing that typically works, although it's more of a hassle, is to clear the cache/data for your launcher app. You'll have to set up your homescreens again afterwards, but this should clear out any stuck bit of data that's causing persistent incorrect badges.

Tried that too. Didn't work

The app that's reporting it is Phone App and I cleared cache for it. Would that mean it's getting reported from the server side?

Yes that's what I did to Google Fi, Phone, Nova launcher, and that other app. Cleared cache from recovery as well now. Will test later

Also try using the stock launcher see if it goes away and turn badge notifications off then on again

Tested with stock launcher, cleared cache in recovery. Still shows I have 14 msgs now. Super weird

Go to settings >notifications >turn off badge counts then back on see if that helps

If that doesn't work one last thing should .

Go to settings >apps tap it >3 dots upper right corner tap it>scroll to system apps> scroll all the way to phone and should be 3 phone icons go into each clear data ,cache ,force stop .
