Hello! I'm a first time android owner. I joined this forum in the hopes that I might get some beginners technical advice and learn the basics of my new device. I have had no previous serious issues with my new phone until the volume control window suddenly began to appear without any prompting or interface from me... It just comes and goes... I have no control over the volume as it re-sets itself to max call volume and/or it sometimes doesn't leave the screen at all until after the screen locks and I open it again... Does anyone know how I can fix this? I think, from what I've read so far, I may need to do a Hard re-set, but I don't know how or where to start the process... Can anyone HELP ME PLEASE!!!:(

Welcome to AC!!

Depending on your device or what version of Android you have, there are different ways to factory reset from within Android. If you have GB, you can go into the phone's Settings Menu and look for something like, Privacy, then from within that menu, there should be somewhere to factory reset. At least that is where it is on my X2.

My Prime, however, has ICS and there is a menu in the Settings Menu for Backup & Reset. Factory reset is within there.

Try and find something like that and you should be able to do a reset. Factory reset can also be done by booting into the recovery menu.

If doing a factory reset doesn't fix this issue, it's probably hardware related.
