Volume controls wont work when phone is locked

So for some reason, I was flashing some new roms and then I went back to my first one (Unnamed v.1.0.4) and since then I have lost the ability to change the volume when the phone is locked. Very annoying when you want to change the volume when you are listening to music and its locked.

anyone know why this would happen or what to do about it?
