(dear mr./ms. moderator, i'm not sure which thread this post should go in, so please put it in the best one, thanks!)

hey, wondering if anyone has had this problem before, seems like it is probably a hardware thing, but i thought i'd check.

when i turn it all the way up, the volume level notification STAYS on the screen, and doesn't go away unless your turn it down, and then it'll go away.

also, when i am listening to something and the screen is off, i can't seem to turn the volume up...

i took it to the verizon store, and the tech told me that the solution was to send me another phone.

ugh, this is my 2nd phone and i have just reinstalled everything, got a pretty awesome custom homescreen w/ lots of widgets in adwlauncher, etc. plus, tons of levels unlocked on games.

i am UNROOTED... so, my question is 2 parts:

1. does anyone have a solution/fix for my volume key thing?
2. what is the cleanest, simplest, and most idiotproof and surefire way to
a. root
b. backup everything (titanium)
c. UNROOT so that it's back to normal, so i can send it back to verizon and they can't blame my problem on a rooted phone...

thanks! again, i have no real interest in rooting except for the backing up of these games, angry birds, specifically, etc. plus random other games.

let me know if you guys have any thoughts?

thank you so far, guys. i am looking to see if it is actually the 2150 case that i have been using as of late...

as far as rooting, i will check that guide out. i just googled it and i found unrevoked, but i got intimidated just by reading the 1st page.

not sure if it hardware or software, i'll keep looking, thanks!

I felt the same way when I first rooted, but unrEVOked is very simple. You just download and then plug your phone in to the computer then the computer does the rest. It roots and installs a custom recovery which you need to install custom ROMs and kernels. But remember its not for everyone and it WILL void your warrenty. IMHO, unrevoked is the easiest way to root. If you have any more questions feel free to ask in the DInc forum.
