volume levels

so my last phone was the 4 and if i put the volume all the way up while listening to headphones, it would usually be too loud. with my 8, i always have to turn the volume all the way up now and even then it's not always loud enough. i can also tell the difference on bluetooth in my car--i'm having to put the stereo volume louder than i did with my 4 when listening to music. 2 or 3 numbers louder.

i always make sure to have the media volume all the way up and that i'm not overlooking a setting or something. i haven't tried doing a factory reset or anything but i've tried adjusting the equalizer and sound settings to no avail.

is anyone else having a volume problem? i just don't want to have to send it back for a defect, it's a hassle setting up my phone back to how i like it.

Is your device EU certified? Well most likely it is. EU has laws on the volume allowed on phones, specifically for headsets. So the newer phones have lower volume via headphones than newer ones.

Equalizer settings also lower the volume a bit in exchange for better quality.

Just a thought, but what mode do you have the phone on? Mine's Entertainment mode and I find the sound to my liking:

Thanks for that information. I just asked Bixby to set Entertainment mode and wow! Huge difference.

@Heavens, thanks for informing me about this setting that i knew nothing of. i appreciate it. unfortunately the setting didn't make a difference but it did make my screen bigger (can't have that. haha) and it turned off my power saving mode. it's not a huge deal breaker, i'm just one of those people that listens to music excessively loud. thank everyone for their suggestions!

I didn't know about this either, damn it makes a difference on music. Would be nice to have it automatically turn on when selected music apps are used, and turn off when the app is shut off.

Entertainment mode, optimized mode and stuff are just presets. You can alter the settings of each mode separately to achieve better ones. I have optimized mode but turned on video enhancer and UHQ, so basically it's optimized, able to have battery saver on, and yet having enhanced videos and UHQ at the same time without having increased brightness.

This appears to be a growing, widespread issue. It is all over many forums. For me, it is the in-call phone volume. All volumes are fine except for my handheld phone calls. Samsung support had me clear caches, soft reset the phone, and finally factory reset, all to no avail. I now use the speakerphone or a bluetooth device to make and receive calls. About a one to two-week turnaround to send it in to Samsung.
