Volume rocker not working

hello ,

I am having a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 phone. Off late I am facing an issue with the Ringing/Incoming call volume adjustment.

Even though I try increasing/decreasing the volume using the Volume rocker buttons no response is happening. The volume remains the same. Also the usual volume rocker display doesn't show up. Hence I am not able make adjustments to the incoming call volume.

At the same time in the Music player and other applications are volume adjustments are responding

Please help me with some solutions if known.

By any chance did you installed any multimedia program that would interact with the volume rocker lately?
