Voodoo is up!

I haven't seen this issue myself, but I wonder if appbrain would respond differently.. Perhaps you can google around for an appbrain apk.

That's a good idea, I'll give it a shot. If that doesn't work, I will try reloading the Clean Rom again and see if that will fix the issue.

I ended up uninstalling Voodoo, wiping everything, reloading Clean Rom, reinstalling 1.2 Voodoo Kernel and now everything is right with the world. Works great, no problems, and is speedy too.

Install was painless, took about 3 minutes total (great to do things like this when you first set up a phone I guess).

Transitions seem smoother, and the quadrant is over double what is was stock.

My phone locked up constantly after the Voodoo install. I flashed back to stock without first removing Voodoo. It's been hell ever since.

On a positive note, the install WAS quick & painless. Lol!

There's a "How to completely remove Voodoo" thread at XDA, that should help.

that's not how it's meant to be installed.

1. you will need clockwork running on the fascinate (there's a sticky in this forum that tells you how to do that)

2. download the voodoo zip, (DON'T rename it to update.zip, as clockwork puts an update.zip on your sd card that is meant to boot into the recovery with)

3. remember where you placed the voodoo zip

4. boot into recovery (power plus both vol up + down)

5. apply the update.zip (the clockwork one) the phone will then boot into CW recovery

6. go to the apply zip from sd card (i can't remember the exact menu name, but it's something to that effect) (also, you navigate clockwork by using volume and selecting with the power button)

7. choose apply zip from sd card

8. navigate to the voodoo zip you downloaded and select it.

that should be it, the phone will boot, and the droid lady will tell you what step it's on, and then you should eventually boot into the OS.

Hi There

I am new to the android world and am trying to install Voodoo. On the Project Voodoo site it indicates that you don't require to root your phone, but ClockworkMod says you do? I don't want to root my phone but want to get rid of the lag...I use an iphone4 and a Galaxy S and the iphone4 S&it* all over the galaxy S in performance....Particularly if you have a music player app running.

Also, I must have missed something on how to use ClockworkMod to install Voodoo. There seems to be a step missing....

In step 1 you say you will need to running ClockworkMod (I also couldn't find a sticky to tell me how this is done...) and then in step 5 you say to install the Clockwork update.zip....How do I do that...the only update.zip in recovery mode is sd card\update.zip and I have installed ClockWorkMod.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction....

IMO, if you don't want to root, then don't look at voodoo. Lots of things can happen and if you are not rooted, you can't fix them ... at least not easily.

I am not the authority on this but rooting is nothing spectacular. Very easy. Just do it if you want to mod your phone...

This thread was started for the old version of voodoo. The newer version is easier to install, and easier to disable. I would caution that if you are not rooted, voodoo will not help your phone. It is intended only for a limited number of users with a specific problem loading large data files. Most users won't notice an improvement in real world performance. We are recommending users NOT install the original voodoo due to the number of problems encountered.

Rooted, with a clean ROM and an optimized kernel, is the safest, easiest way to get the most performance from your phone.

I agree that the new voodoo is easier and less buggy but you have a new CWM and requires a little knowledge of what is going on. I feel pretty comfortable with most things and I have not went to the new voodoo ;) I did have the old voodoo though.

Definitely not needed if you don't root. Your laggy with all the VZW bloat on there.
