VPN not working

Folks

Just been given a Samsung S6 Edge , Android 5.1.1 (Love the phone)
Previous phone Nexus 4 , Android 4.1

With the Nexus 4 my VPN connections to my home using Synology server works fine
However with the S6 using the same connection details I get no VPN connection.

On the ADSL modem looking at the system logs I dont see any form of connection.

VPN is set up to use L2TP/IPSec PSK with a Shared secrete
I did also try dropping back to PPTP on the S6 but also no joy.

Any idea's ?

Who is your carrier? And, is this the same carrier as you had on the Nexus 4?

Some carriers don't permit VPN connections.

Same sim
I just popped it out of the nexus 4 and in to s6 (it was a multi sim that can be made from small to mini size)
