(vs880 lg)has a SIM card with a question mark in it

I use lifeline with tracphone (old phone) phone I want to use (vs880) both are lg. The vs880 is with Verizon (vs880 lg)has a symbol of SIM card with a question mark in it I am trying to move my service to my vs880 from my old lg flip phone , I bought a compatable SIM card for it and followed directions...can anyone advise on what to do to get my phone working and get rid of question mark

Welcome to Android Central! Which Lifeline provider are you using? If it uses a GSM rather than a CDMA network, the LG phone from Verizon that you have probably can't read the SIM.

You mentioned Tracfone, so I'm guessing that you're on SafeLink, which is Tracfone's Lifeline service. In their FAQ, it says that you can bring your own phone if it's a GSM phone: https://www.safelinkwireless.com/Enrollment/Safelink/en/NewPublic/faq.html. Your LG G Vista is a CDMA phone, so it won't work, if this is the case.
