Hi. :-! I just got the new Lollypop 5.0 update and my phone is now crapola. I have a Nexus 7 tablet, and iPad and my S5. The Nexus got the Lollypop update and is working great - better than ever - but when the update hit my S5, the phone became a frustrating piece of crap - can't even make calls on it. I reset to factory and loaded Nova Launcher & Themer, but phone still runs too hot, battery dies within 1.5 hours of doing nothing, apps hangs, or freeze. I updated every app, but the whole thing is abominable.

The question is, should I root? Last root I performed was an old HTC, a few years back. the Phone has only 16 gb, although I have a 64gb card in it. It would be nice to have more than 10gb to load apps into (after bloatware)

If I root, the question becomes, can I still get lollypop? is it reversible? I think rooting would be fantastic but, it's been a while.....

Opinion? Help? Advice?

Thanks a mil.

1) Rooting voids the warranty and all you;ll have is a rooted crap phone. (Root just adds a file to a system folder, and an app to control it. Apps that don't need root, like everything you have on the phone now, don't even know that it's rooted.)

2) The phone is under warranty. Bring it to a Verizon company store (not an agent) and ask them to please fix or replace it. (Make sure everything is backed up - even if they just fix your current phone, they may reflash the entire ROM or do a factory reset - either of which wipes your apps and data.)

Rukbat. must be a verizon rep -
Rooting is also great to tweak settings, freeze bloatware and even remove crap. I havent gone to Lollipop yet for that reason is that I am rooted under 4.4.4 and I dont want to change. I have tweaked settings such as tuning wake on home button press off which was terribly important for me as I was draining my battery because the phone kept tuning on in my pocket.

You just have to weight options to do what you want to do with your phone.
