VZW Galaxy Nexus LTE Chipset?

Depends on what is reliable for you. If you're talking only about the connectivity issues, the latest Gingerbread OTA with the latest radios solves it. Also the GPS locks much faster. Don't forget Thunderbolt was the very first LTE handset on Verizon's LTE network, which makes it a milestone, but also very buggy first gen device.

Buggy to say the least :-) but yeah I should've stayed with my og but I traded a friend plus some cash.... Anyways I'm rooted and rommed always have latest radios... GPS is ok I use it daily so hopefully the barometer and radios in nexus are better than the galaxy s my friend has

You're definitely treating yourself with a worthy upgrade. Going from one milestone (1st LTE vzw smartphone) to another (1st ICS, HD Super Amoled, etc) is a right thing to do.

I've wanted a super amo screen forever... I use my phone wayyyyy too much.. the reason I love 4g for web browsing and videos.. so hopefully the radios are up to snuff in the nex my last concern is overheating... Tbolt Burns a hole in my pants when I don't even use it... Maybe Samsung has better capable tech

*edit overheats more when not on wifi lol... Pathetic really and battery goes.. assuming its 1st Gen radio responsible

i haven't noticed any excessive overheating on my Bolt, but I do use Juice Defender which shuts the LTE radio while locked and checks for notifications/mail every 15mins. Maybe that will help.

Any idea what cdma/evdo baseband processor it uses? The Droid Charge used a Via Telecom unit. Does the Galaxy Nexus use this one too or is it a Qualcomm chip?

I did. I didn't see where it said. Care to help me out?

At this point no one knows. We are all guessing but I assume its the samsungs own CMC220 or a variant for LTE. No idea what CDMA baseband.
We just have to wait and see...
