VZW (Note5) Android Nougat 7.0 Bad Battery Life?

So I upgraded to nougat last night and I have seen a decrease in battery life from 6.0.1.

Before with 6.0.1 I was getting 11-13 hours of SOT, (even estimated in battery section in settings).

No other changes other than the 7.0 upgrade.

Now with 7.0 I get 8-9 hours, anything I can do to improve?

Power saving mode is on "mid"

Performance mode is set to "optimized"

Brightness is set to minimum.

I sure would like to believe that it is possible to get 11-13 hours of screen on time with this phone on any OS. Are you sure that the 11-13 hours is really time that your screen was on and lit up?

I've not seen much improvement in my SOT with Nougat, but I was doing fairly well before I took the update. I tend to be somewhere in the middle regarding the power saving measures and such when I set up my phones, and I don't get much over four hours SOT.

If you're not misreading the values and you're "only" getting 8-9 hours of SOT, there is likely a line of folks waiting to either swap phones with you or pick your brain. In any event, I think it's safe to say that "Bad Battery Life" doesn't apply to your device.

Before panicking about a rise in power usage, remember what you just did you your phone. The updating and restarts and automatic reconfiguration, along with the time you spent exploring the new features and tweaking it so that it looks and sounds just like it did on Marshmallow. All of that makes a dent in your power. Give the phone a break for a few days and let things settle. Then start looking at power consumption and making comparisons.
