I have a Blackberry Storm but was/am ready to make the jump to Android. I have had Motorola phones in the past and really liked them, so I thought this would be the phone. I go in on Friday afternoon and this sales person at the store tries to scare me away from Android. I use Exchange Server and he says that Android does not work well with Exchange. He said the the email is delayed 15 minutes and that the calendar and contacts would not sync up. He said emails deleted on my device would remain on the server. He then said Blackberry was best with exchange, then iphone, then Android. He also suggested I wait for Windows and the new devices coming out in that platform for a few weeks.

Any suggestions, ideas, or comments? I thought I had researched this fairly well but this sales guy spooked me. How well does it work? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

He has no idea what he's talking about. I have an exchange account on my original RAZR and push works perfectly. Email will usually hit my phone a second or two before it hits my Outlook. When I delete a message on my phone it goes to my deleted items in Outlook. Contacts and calendar sync perfectly. The guy either has no clue or has something against Android.

If so, then I suggest you tell him to put down the pipe. LOL

He's an idiot, it works like a champ. As someone who has made the switch you're contemplating (after a decade of BB use) I can tell you Exchange works flawlessly...every aspect. Tasks, calendar, contacts, email...you can adjust your out of office settings, etc...

You won't look back, trust me. And slap that VZW guy in the face, will ya?

Dude is crazy, all that he told you is insane. I have had a Maxx since it came out and it all woks flawlessly! Work off my phone everyday, no worries.

Exchange works perfectly on Android. Only thing missing on MAXX HD from the original RAZR is the native Tasks application, which I miss and use. But with the battery life improvement, I can live without.

Yeah he probably doesn't know what he's talking about, and why immediately get into some specific technical conversation about email settings and the such? Judging just from that anyway he's not a good salesman at all. That's quite annoying. Who wants to immediately get into that, steer a customer away from a phone on the spot, and not personally try to help out and get involved with the customer's needs?? Too much geek talk for a salesman especially up front.

Waste of time.

I work a vzw store and a popular complaint is that exchange email is delayed on androids and ios and I experience it all the time on my gs3 and ipad 2. So I have to agree with the rep. My calender does sync fine though and deletes sync perfectly. Reading email on my phone does not mark read on the server though. Bb is still best for email.

Maybe those arguments stand up against stock email apps? I get email notification on my Thunderbolt using Enhanced Email before I do my office PC many times. Which kind of highlights the true, fair distinction between the OS brands.... choice of application.

I have Yahoo Mail via ATT Uverse. I use the Yahoo Mail app and that takes care of the mail left unread on server issue. I Use Google Calendar, so no problems there.

With a Galaxy Nexus, I don't have my device constantly checking for email. I use the 30 minute setting and that is fine. Just because you can receive your email on a mobile device, does not mean it can't wait. If something is urgent, pick of the phone and call somebody.

I've had a number of Android devices - never had problems with Exchange syncing up, and as others have mentioned, I usually get the email on my phone before it shows up on my desktop.

For the people who have had issues, it's more likely to be related to network/IT/corporate setup at your place of work, than it is anything related to Android. The salesman had no clue what he was talking about.

I bet $100 hes an iPhone user and fanboy, thus why he is glorifying it.

Don't let him scare you away.

Yes that guy def didnt know what he was talking about. Mine exchange works better than my regular E-mail. I get them instantly. Now my regular E-mail doesnt work so great even on my GS3. Even if it's set to push, it still takes a while sometimes to send it to my phone.

I agree with the "he's an idiot" replies. My work blackberry bold and my HOX get exchange emails at the same time. Don't be skerred

. Bb is still best for email.

Lol. So you think truncated emails are a feature of a good platform? I hated that on my bb. I hope rim gives up the ghost soon
